Right after I read Sciencegeek's comment, I looked out on the back porch and saw this:

Eph 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

You all are so brave. We never touched our snakes. The snake wrangler removed the one from the washer, and Joel removed the one from the door with a piece of rebar.
We have had 2 run-ins with snakes in our new house, along with one turtle...in our pool. The first, a big one, got out on its own. The second met its end at the hand of Joel and his garden pruners (looked like a baby rattler). The turtle I rescued, and called the boys over for a closer look, when the little stinker craned its head around and tried to bite me. It was a snapping turtle. We put it in a box and released it in our neighborhood's retention pond. But it goes to show that here in Florida, one must always look before he leaps into the pool.
...and then there are the scorpions, worthy of a whole 'nother post. I am so glad my termite guy had already told me that wood scorpion stings hurt like the dickens, but are not really poisonous to humans. Based on an early morning experience, I can confirm that a wood scorpion stings REALLY HURTS, but does not kill you.
We found a few scorpions in our last place. Often out on the lanai. But thankfully we never had one sting us. Our best run in with nature in FL was the bear in the yard. =)
What a handsome guy! ;)
