Thanks for telling me about this week's exciteent, K! About 8 years ago or so, hubby and I got out of bed @ 2 am on a Sunday morning and drove up in the country to watch the shower from a place without street lights! While driving around in the wee hours of the morning, not really knowing where we were, we decided we loved that area so much that we wanted to live there. About two years later, we moved to our current house, within a couple of miles of where we sat and watched the meteor shower that morning. God is good!

We had a telescope in Japan and loved looking at the moon and stars when we were studying that in science. I love just going out on our back porch and watching the big dipper move across the sky through the summer and then "re-appear" in the winter.
I love the first half of August and watching the skies! Especially loving it this summer as it is our first with a hot tub =D

Driving around the countryside, looking through a telescope in Japan, watching a meteor shower from a hot tub...all those sound like fun. We'll probably just pull a chair to the middle of the cul de sac (if our neightbor does not have her 150-watt nightlight lit up), and swat at mosquitos.
Didn't my post come through? After I posted it, my computer went crazy and I had to shut it down.
Basically, I said that I went out Saturday and saw 3 shooting stars in about 15 minutes. The boys are looking forward to staying up late with their cousin to see their first shooting stars. My MIL is in her 70s and has never seen one!!! We plan to pull our lounge chairs out on the pooldeck (and like you, hope that our neighbor's motion light stays off)
